LNG filling stations and CNG filling stations have significant differences in gas type, storage method, usage method, construction cost and operating cost, and station construction flexibility.
Gas type and storage method
CNG filling station: Compressed natural gas (Compressed Natural Gas) is added, which is stored in a pressure vessel in a gaseous state with a working pressure of up to 20MPa through pressurized storage.
LNG filling station: Liquefied natural gas (Liquefied Natural Gas) is added, which is purified and cooled to -162℃ to change from gas to liquid, and stored in a low-temperature environment.
Usage method
CNG: Before being supplied to users, it needs to be pressure-regulated, metered and odorized, and cannot be used directly.
LNG: Before being supplied to users, it needs to be gasified, regulated and metered, and cannot be used directly.
Construction cost and operating cost
CNG filling station: The investment cost is high, the equipment and process flow are complex, the management and maintenance are difficult, and the operating cost is high.
LNG filling station: lower investment cost, no need for multi-stage compressor units, and nearly 50% reduction in operation and maintenance costs.
Flexibility in station construction
CNG filling station: limited by the natural gas pipeline network, lower flexibility.
LNG filling station: not limited by the natural gas pipeline network, more flexible in station construction, can be built anywhere needed.
